Bring Your Own Bottle

No corkage charge Bring your own beer or wine. We won’t charge you a penny to open it.

Mogul is a BYOB restaurant. Bring the wine or beer you actually want to drink with dinner, and we will bring you glasses, an opener and an ice bucket — at no charge.

What BYOB means here

Plenty of restaurants advertise “BYOB” and then add a corkage fee per bottle, which quietly removes most of the saving. We do not. There is no corkage charge at Mogul, on any number of bottles, on any night of the week.

A bottle of wine that costs around £8 in a supermarket routinely appears on a restaurant list at £25 to £30. For a table of four sharing two bottles, drinking what you brought instead of what we sold you is the difference between a modest bill and an expensive one — and it is money we would rather you spent on another starter.

How it works

Nothing to arrange in advance. Bring whatever you like — beer, wine, prosecco — and we will handle the rest. Glassware, a corkscrew and chilling are all provided. If you are bringing something that needs to be cold, hand it to us when you arrive and we will put it on ice while you order.

What goes well with the menu

There is no wrong answer, but a few things work particularly well. A cold lager handles the tandoori grills and anything above medium heat. An off-dry white — Riesling, Pinot Gris — is very forgiving against chilli and stands up to the creamier dishes like Butter Masala or a korma. If you prefer red, something soft and low in tannin does better than a big oaked bottle, which tends to fight the spice.
